Kaizer Chiefs are intent on reshaping their playing squad next season, as they look to end the trophy drought.

It’s believed Chiefs may be willing to make some very bold and tough decisions in order to assist with that.

The first part of the change is set to consist with a coaching appointment. It is believed that Chiefs have struck an agreement with AS FAR for the services of Nasreddine Nabi. It’s thought that the Tunisian mentor is ready to drop his Moroccan side, after a semifinal, on the 23rd of June, regardless of the outcome. It is believed that the will be arriving at Naturena with his own coaching staff.

Chiefs need to make some big decisions

That coaching staff will be tasked with quite a few big tasks. The first, player contracts situations. Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe, Edmilson Dove, George Matlou, Sifiso Hlanti and Itumeleng Khune are in danger of leaving. This is because their contracts at Chiefs are set to expire at the end of the month.

Now according to Soccer-Laduma an academy product was set for a shock exit at Chiefs. But the club has since changed its mind.

“Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have had a change in heart regarding midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo. Having never really kicked on from his breakout season in 2021, the club’s hierarchy are understood to have grown despondent over the player’s influence on the team and whether or not he was still needed. In the previous season, the 24-year-old made just 13 appearances in all competitions, eight of them coming as a starter, while he missed 10 consecutive games to- wards the end of the campaign. As a result, there have been talks of a possible exit from the club, albeit on loan given that he still has two years to run on his contract with the club.” Wrote the publication.

Ngcobo almost booted out?

But rivals lurking has made Chiefs think twice about releasing the talented Ngcobo.

“But sources have informed Soccer Laduma that Chiefs have had a change of heart regarding the midfielder. This after learning that their direct rivals are ready to pounce on him should the Soweto giants deem him surplus to requirements. Soccer Laduma has learnt that some of Gauteng’s bigger clubs were watching Ngcobo’s situation with keen interest. With this change in mind, indications are that Ngcobo, who is a product of the team’s development system, will have a chance to impress the incoming coach ahead of the new campaign.” Wrote the publication

Chiefs do you believe Ngcobo will finally flourish under a new coach, or is it time to cash in?
