Kaizer Chiefs to cut down salary bill: Who’s safe and who’s not?

Amakhosi are reported to be in the process of cutting down their salary bill in an effort to bring in new players that will deliver for the club.

Kaizer Chiefs are reported to be in the process of cutting down their salary bill in an effort to bring in new players that will deliver for the club.

No fewer than EIGHT players could leave Amakhosi to make space for those coming in, and the majority of them are senior players.

According to SABC Sport players such as Samir Nurkovic, Leonardo Castro and Lazarous Kambole could be on their way out of the club.

Nurkovic was most recently reported to be on his way to Royal AM after what was a difficult season that saw him spend time in the casualty room due to injuries.

Kambole is likely to be released as his contract is coming to an end, and his three-year stay with Chiefs was nothing but a disaster as he could only manage two goals in 44 matches.

WHO ELSE IS NOT SAFE AT KAIZER CHIEFS?

Senior players such as Daniel Cardoso, Daniel Akpeyi and Lebohang Manyama are also not safe from dreaded axe as they contributed little to Chiefs this season.

And that makes it six players who could be on their way out of Naturena before the end of June as the majority of them will have their contracts expire at the time.

At this stage, Kearyn Baccus is leaving Chiefs after his agent, Mike Makaab confirmed to the same publication that the midfielder will not be staying.

Bernard Parker is also not safe, and given that he’s also one of the senior players, his salary package is undoubtedly among the highest within the squad.

And that takes the number of players that are not safe at Chiefs to a whopping eight, and these are only senior players who have been with Chiefs for many years except for Baccus who has been with the club for two seasons.

WHICH KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYERSARE AT LEAST SAFE?

Keagan Dolly, one of the club’s highest paid players is definitely not going to be offloaded by Chiefs as he’s done enough to keep his place in the team this season.

Khama Billiat is another player who’s most likely to stay at Naturena after contributing immensely to the club since his arrival from Sundowns three seasons ago.

Itumeleng Khune and Erick Mathoho could be retained for at least one more season alongside Ramahlwe Mphahlele to try and help the incoming players settle at Chiefs.
