Billiat’s current deal with Chiefs expires in Juns 2023 but the management hasn’t opened talks with him as yet, meaning the talisman faces an uncertain future.

Should he not be offered a new deal by 1 January, Billiat would be eligible to sign a pre-contract with a club of choice.

Now, according to Nengomasha, who spent 10 years at Chiefs, while Billiat is a talented footballer, replicating what he did at Mamelodi Sundowns is what’s expected of him at Naturena.

Furthermore, Nengomasha expects the Chiefs management to consider Billiat’s number of goals and assists when deciding whether or not to offer him a new deal.

And at this stage, Nengomasha doesn’t think it is looking good for Billiat although he believes Chiefs still need experienced campaigners in their squad.

KAIZER CHIEFS LEGEND SENDS STRONG MESSAGE TO BILLIAT OVER FUTURE

“If Khama wants a new contract then he must work for it. That’s what all the players do. When you know that your contract is coming to an end and that you still want to be at the club, then you must show that on the field,” Nengomasha told Isolezwe.

“We all know what he did at Sundowns. He’s my homeboy, I support him but he needs to prove to the Chiefs management that he deserves the new contract. It’s all in his hands,” he continued.

“He must accept and work hard if the supporters are not happy with his form. We all know that he is talented but he needs to work hard. If he wants money, let him earn it; that’s football. You can’t demand money yet you have nothing to offer on the pitch,” added Nengomasha.

“The management will sit down and look at the numbers, and that includes the goals he scored and assists. He still has two more years left in him as a player but the numbers are not looking good.

“I don’t know how the Chiefs management feel about him but for me, the team needs experienced players,” concluded Nengomasha.
