Chiefs are a set to take on Stellenbosch FC in the MTN 8 Cup on Sunday, and they are most likely to do so without two more players.

Chiefs lost more than the match

Injuries and suspensions are now starting to cripple Chiefs as they took on Cape Town City without the likes of news signings Yusuf Maart and Ashley du Preez due to suspension and injury respectively. Unfortunately for Arthur Zwane, it now looks like he will be without at least two more players. Two of the substitutions he made on Tuesday night included Reeve Frosler and later Siyethemba Sithebe.

Frosler was the first to get substituted during the first half of the game in what looked like a hamstring injury. Sithebe then followed late in the second half in what was looking like a routine switched that had become synonymous with Chiefs in the opening stages of the season. The dreadlocked star also did not show any signs of discomfort as he came off.

Sithebe and Frosler likely to be out

It would then be a surprise when Zwane would come out into his post-match conference saying that Sithebe alongside Frosler were among the new names on the unavailable list heading into the game against Stellenbosch. He also mentioned some players he was hoping would come back to try and help improve the fortunes of Chiefs.

“…Before this game, we lost Yusuf (Maart) and now (Siyethemba) Sithebe looks like he might now not be available for Sunday’s game, We are still waiting for Dove to get his work permit. We don’t know how long it is going to take. Usually, I am told, it takes about two weeks, so we are just hoping we will maybe get it by the end of this week. It looks like Reeve might also not be available. He is one of the players who is not going to be available, but I’m not as worried if Dove can be available. Happy (Mashiane) did well today, not bad, but we need the experience of Dove just to balance the squad.” Zwane said as per Kick Off.

Pressure on to end trophy drought

Losing both Frosler and Sithebe will undoubtedly come as a huge blow to Zwane, who has started both players in every league game for Chiefs thus far.  In a pressured cup encounter this is the last thing ‘10111’ would’ve wanted as especially with his team failing to find any consistency thus far.
