Kaizer Chiefs latest: Baxter vs Hunt – what are the stats saying?

Stuart Baxter has officially been sacked by Kaizer Chiefs just 10 months after taking charge of the first team from Gavin Hunt.

Stuart Baxter has officially been sacked by Kaizer Chiefs just 10 months after taking charge of the first team from Gavin Hunt.

Hunt was fired eight months into his three-year contract with Chiefs following a series of poor results – but do the two coaches have something in common?

That’s a tricky question because Baxter had all the ammunition at his disposal while Hunt came in when Chiefs were banned from signing new players.

Baxter’s sacking was confirmed by Chiefs on Thursday with the club replacing him Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard until the end of the season.

Baxter leaves Chiefs sitting in fourth position while Hunt left the Soweto giants battling to get into the top eight bracket in May 2021.

BAXTER VS HUNT: WHAT ARE THEIR KAIZER CHIEFS STATS SAY?

Between September 2020 and May 2021, Hunt had led Chiefs in 28 league games – he won six, drew 12 and lost 10 as head coach.

Under Hunt, Chiefs had 30 points from the 28 league games with 30 goals scored and a whopping 35 conceded.

Overall, Hunt coached Chiefs in 44 matches across all competitions, and he won 11, drew 17 and lost 15.

Baxter, on the other hand, was involved in 23 league matches for Chiefs – he won 11, drew six and lost six.

Overall, Baxter was in charge of 26 competitive matches of which he won 11, drawn six and lost eight in his second spell.
