Kaizer Chiefs announce Stuart Baxter’s ‘replacements’

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed changes to their technical team following the sacking of Stuart Baxter on Thursday night.

Baxter’s two-year contract was terminated with immediate effect following a string of poor results that left the Chiefs fans frustrated.
In a statement released on Thursday, Chiefs confirmed that assistant coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard will replace Baxter until the end of the season.

Both Zwane and Sheppard have been in this situation before – the duo were tasked with leading Chiefs in May 2021.
This was after Gavin Hunt was fired from his position as head coach – they were in charge of the final two games of the season.

At the time, Chiefs needed four points to finish in the top eight, and both Zwane and Sheppard delivered as the team finished eighth on the log.
Zwane and Sheppard were also tasked with leading Chiefs in the three matches the club played in December 2021 in the absence of Baxter.

This was due to the fact that Chiefs were hit by Covid-19, and again, the pair didn’t disappoint hence the fans will be excited to know that they will be in charge of the remaining seven games of the season.
According to the same statement, Zwane and Sheppard will lead the team on Saturday when Chiefs visit Stellenbosch in the league.

Kick-off at Danie Craven Stadium is at 17:00.

“Assistant coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard will take charge of the senior team for the remainder of the season, starting with the next match against Stellenbosch FC on Saturday, 23 April 2022,” said the club in the statement.
