Kaizer Chiefs are looking to revamp their attacker and could be ready to move for a Bafana Bafana international

Chiefs will welcome a new coach in the coming weeks, and could be welcoming new attackers with him.

Chiefs looking to improve attack

The team struggled to score goals last season, but also struggled to create goal scoring opportunities. Their strikers were far from prolific, with Ashley du Preez top scoring with six goals. The likes of new signings Ranga Chivaviro and Jasond Gonzalez also failed to live up to expectations. Between them, there were just four goals, with the Colombian contributing a grand zero to that. It is, therefore no surprise that Chiefs won’t be keeping him beyond his loan deal.

On the wide channels, new signing Pule Mmodi and Christian Saile both contributed four goals. The former had four assists as well, while the latter had three. Chiefs management do not appear to think that is enough, however, as they have earmarked quite a few creative wide players who can score goals too,

One of those players Chiefs have been linked with, is Bafana Bafana and Sekhukhune United winger Elias Mokwana. According to Soccer-Laduma, they could be stepping up their chase for his signature.

Mokwana a big target

“Elias Mokwana remains a target for Kaizer Chiefs, and nothing has changed now that the season has ended. He is one of the players that Chiefs are likely to go for in planning for next season al- though the club’s situation is a little bit complicated for now because of their coaching situation. Any potential deal will depend on Sekhukhune as the player is contracted to them, although he is also having his sights on making an overseas move,” said the source.

Chiefs are believed to be competing with both their rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns for Mokwana. The player is thought to be leaning towards moving abroad, however.
