Kaizer Chiefs star playing for his future in January?

Kaizer Chiefs have some interesting decisions to make with their squad this January, notably in the centre of defence.

Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove’s future at the club isn’t all that certain.

REVEALED: Is this the Amakhosi transfer shortlist for January

Dove is yet to seal a new deal with Kaizer Chiefs

Edmilson Dove has become a valuable part of the furniture at Naturena with his versatility and experience both invaluable assets. The 29-year-old can play left-back and centre-back and is now a regular for Mozambique too, but his Chiefs contract expires in June 2024. As of January, he’ll be allowed to talk to new suitors with a view to signing a pre-contract deal. It’s a strange position for him to be in, given his seniority at the club. Then again, young prospect Aden McCarthy is a left-sided central defender and Amakhosi has also recently signed the equally versatile 23-year-old Luke Fleurs.

AFCON critical

Africa’s showpiece tournament takes place from January 11th until February 13th. If selected for Mozambique, as is widely expected, Dove will essentially be playing for his Chiefs future. He’s either in the shop window during AFCON or securing a new shiny contract with the Glamour Boys.

Where do you think Dove will be playing his football next season?
