However, Arthur Zwane is confident that his quality will shine through if he is given time.

“Football is a game of mistakes. On the day I think he didn’t do well for various reasons,” the 49-year-old coach said.

“One thing I know for sure he went in there to give his best. On the day, maybe, because of the planning of the opposition, it did not work [for Sithebe].

“Yes, other players did very well, but we had to obviously substitute him to change our game plan as well.”

Zwane has hinted that Sithebe could feature against his former team in Sunday’s MTN 8 semi-final second leg.

“There’s no doubt he’s a good player, going forward he might feature in the second leg, it will depend on the profiling of the opposition,” Zwane added.

Zwane previously insisted that Sithebe’s workload needed to be managed to get the best out of him.

“The guys [midfielders] are gelling well together. Sithebe as well, there’s no doubt at the start of the season he added much needed value,” said Zwane.

“Unfortunately there are games where he ran out of steam of which we expected because there was a time where he was not playing regularly, actually, he was not laying football at all.

“So we’re managing him and we believe in him. we know that he will come back strong,” said the coach.
