Kaizer Chiefs should sign this player as a replacement for Njabulo Blom

Replacements for players like Njabulo Blom don’t exactly grow on trees, but Kaizer Chiefs could be creative about how they solve this problem.

Kaizer Chiefs are still sweating over the future of Njabulo Blom, but there are things they can do to mitigate all of the risks involved.

As things stand, Blom will walk away from the club for free when his current deal expires in June 2023. So what are the options for the Amakhosi board?

Kaizer Chiefs should go for Andile Jali

Chiefs were linked with Jali not so long ago, although any rumours linking Sundowns stars to any of the other clubs in the “Big Three” need to be taken with a pinch of salt. However, this one might have legs. The 32-year-old midfield general, as things stand, will be a free agent in June. Why Jali, you say?

JALI TO BRIDGE THE GENERATION GAP

A move for Jali isn’t totally out of the question. It would be tough to pull this one off, especially with Sundowns’ financial clout and ability to offer him new terms, but stranger things have happened in football. Chiefs could do with Jali’s experience and know-how, and he could double up as a mentor for youngsters like Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.

Jali has oodles of top-level experience and that could brush off on Mshini. He’s also ready-made for the big occasions and would be a top operator for at least two more years. By that time, Chiefs will likely be promoting another youngster from their academy, or looking to the transfer market for long-term prospect.

Right now, it’s difficult to see any viable central midfield options for Chiefs in the 22-27 age bracket. 32-year-old Andile Jali could be the best bet for now until they find one.
