Kaizer Chiefs latest: Star defender may NOT feature again this season

Kaizer Chiefs left-back S’fiso Hlanti may NOT feature for the club this season despite his return to the training grounds in March.

Hlanti is still nursing an Achilles tendon injury he suffered at the start of November 2021, and while he may be back, the Bafana Bafana international is training alone.

The information was confirmed by Hlanti’s agent Sizwe Ntshangase who added that his client is running with the ball as part of his rehabilitation programme.

Ntshangase doesn’t think Hlanti will feature in the remaining eight league matches of the season for Amakhosi but he was cautious in ruling him out of action completely.

“With this type of injury, it’s not easy to make a swift comeback,” Ntshangase told KickOff.

“Remember, it’s an Achilles injury which needed to be operated on that we’re talking about here but at the moment he is training, with Kaizer Chiefs issuing an update on his situation in the past few weeks.

“He has been that much closer to playing, but is doing light training as we speak, he can run with the ball,” he said.

“But then again, I don’t see him featuring this season. But it depends on him as our bodies are all unique. So, I can’t determine if his season is already over.”

“But at the moment, he is doing well with his rehab, but is training alone. So, [he] won’t be featuring in any games soon,” added Ntshangase.
