Kaizer Chiefs rival Mamelodi Sundowns for top PSL prize!

Kaizer Chiefs appear to be back in contention for the DStv Premiership title after jumping from sixth to second on the log last weekend.

Amakhosi are eight points behind Mamelodi Sundowns, but the current form puts Chiefs slightly ahead of the defending champions.

The 2021-22 PSL season is in its second quarter (Q2), and Chiefs have played five of the seven matches allocated for this period while Sundowns have played a game less.

And as things stand, Chiefs are leading the Q2 log with 10 points from their five league games while Sundowns are two points behind them from four games.

Chiefs will have to maintain their good run of from in the remaining two games and hope for Sundowns to stumble in their next three league games.

Should Chiefs win their remaining two games of the quarter, they would then be on 16 points from the seven matches.

Now, with Sundowns already on eight points from their four games, the next three games would give them nine points, meaning the Tshwane can, at best, finish Q2 on 17 points.

And for that reason, the onus are on Chiefs to win their matches and hope for Sundowns to drop a few more points going into the half-way mark.

Whoever finishes top of the Q2 log of the DStv Premiership will walk away with a whopping R1.5 million prize money.

Sundowns have already won the Q1 prize money, and this was soon after their MTN8 triumph at the expense of Cape Town City.

WHO ARE CHIEFS AND SUNDOWNS FACING NEXT?

Kaizer Chiefs will be at home against Cape Town City on Saturday, 4 December with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.

Mamelodi Sundowns, on the other hand, will be away to Stellenbosch on the same day with the match penciled for 20:00.
