Chiefs needed just a solitary goal against AmaZulu to progress to the MTN8 final but failed to even get a shot on target. That has seen striker Ndlovu linked with the team.

Ndlovu a journeyman

Ndlovu’s career has been characterised by him being somewhat of a journeyman both in and out of South Africa. In the country he last turned out for SuperSport United, while also having a spell at Bloemfontein Celtic. His prowess in front of goal has also seen him gain favour with national team coaches, representing all of the national u20 and u23’s teams as well being a full international for Bafana Bafana

Abroad, he has played in various leagues in Europe as well as Asia. Furthermore, he has played in both the Uefa Champions League and the Europa League, during his time at FC Qarabag. His record in front of goal has been largely impressive, and has seen the player get 105 league goals in 261 appearances.

Proven goal scorer Chiefs needs?

Now when you look at those figures, you can see why the player would be linked to a Chiefs side that has been goal shy. Amakhosi have scored 15 goals in the 12 league games played thus far, a handful of those though, coming from the penalty spot. Now speaking ahead of their weekend loss to AmaZulu, coach Arthur Zwane was asked about the possibility of signing Ndlovu, who had reportedly made himself available for a return to South African football should a suitable offer come in.

“Yeah, look, we’re profiling a lot of strikers at the moment and until we get, the right one we think will fit in our way of playing…” Zwane said in a short answer.

Without Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, Chiefs are left looking very light in front of goal, and even when the Burundian is not looking sharp, they look like they can run into problems. Therefore it would be plausible to see Ndlovu coming to beef up their strike force.
