Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have rekindled their interest in a talented striker target as the January transfer window draws near.

Amakhosi are believed to be considering to submit a bid for Fiston Mayele, according to Goal.

The DR Congo international was linked to Chiefs during the previous transfer window. However, the deal fell through as his club, Young Africans, refused to release him to the Soweto giants. However, one key factor has changed which has resulted in renewed interest from Amakhosi.

CHIEFS CONSIDERING A BID OFFER FOR STRIKER TARGET

Chiefs are reportedly considering submitting a new offer for Mayele.

This is because his current side, Young Africans, failed to qualify for the CAF Champions League and one of the main reasons for them holding onto Mayele was to increase their chances of CAFCL qualification.

ZWANE AND AMAKHOSI NEED ANOTHER ATTACKER

In contrast, Amakhosi need to recruit a striker capable of regularly scoring goals.

Arthur Zwane has identified the need for Chiefs to sign back up to Caleb-Bonfils Bimenyimana after the Burundian’s injury left the Amakhosi attack dull and without much attacking threat. Furthermore, Ashley Du Preez is struggling to find the same form that attracted Amakhosi management to him in the first place.

Therefore, Amakhosi need a new striker who can either link up with Bimenyimana or at the very least provide promising back-up.

This, in the unfortunate case of injury or suspension. It is essential to build squad depth if Chiefs are to return to their glory days as it creates healthy competition for places and players can be rested and rotated when necessary.

Mayele is one of six attackers currently linked to Amakhosi.

Red-hot Ethiopian forward Amanuel Gebremichael is their latest attacker being profiled along with the likes of Dino Ndlovu, Balint Bajner and Boris Kopitovic while Junior Sede Dion from Marumo Gallents have been offered to Chiefs.
