Kaizer Chiefs’ Khune talks his worst injury and his legacy

Kaizer Chiefs’ active legend Itumeleng Khune has revealed the most terrible injury of his PSL career which kept him out for eight months.

As Kaizer Chiefs’ best-ever goalkeeper in history, the journey has not always been injury-free for Itumeleng Khune.

KHUNE DESCRIBES HIS WORST INJURY AT KAIZER CHIEFS

Remember Khune’s shoulder injury? It is the one that the worst nightmare of his glittering Amakhosi career.

Having a live chat on KCTV last week, the 34-year-old said he’s had a few bad ones but not all of them were scary,

“I’ve had quite a number of injuries in my playing career, the one that scared me the most was the shoulder injury when I was out for nine months,” he said as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“That was the longest and the most frustrating injury I’ve had. I’m glad that I’m 100% now and I’m willing to go an extra mile for the club.”

HOW KHUNE WANTS TO BE REMEMBERED

The Kaizer Chiefs academy product also took the moment to describe the type of legacy he aspires to leave behind.

“The legacy that I want to leave when I retire is for people to remember that Itumeleng Khune was there and that he played a huge role. 

“There’s no one who wants to be remembered as a failure. I want to be remembered as a major part in Kaizer Chiefs winning trophies, dominating South African football and I think I’ve played over 350 matches, and I’ve kept over 150 if not 200 clean sheets. 

“I want to take every opportunity that comes my way, use it to the best of my abilities, and when I retire, knowing very well that I’ve given it my all,” he added.

Meanwhile, with Amakhosi’s number one Brandon Petersen reported injured on Monday, Khune is expected to make the squad to face Golden Arrows this weekend.
