BREAKING: Covid cases spreading across the PSL after Kaizer Chiefs!

Kaizer Chiefs were the first club to come forward with multiple players testing positive for Covid but now it has been revealed that there are more players with the virus in the PSL.

Ernst Middendorp, head coach of Maritzburg United, confirmed that there are multiple teams in the DStv Premiership that have players who have tested positive for Covid.

“Every team definitely has some Covid-19 cases, or injuries or whatever,” Middendorp told KickOff.

South Africa is currently fighting the new Omicron variant of the virus and fears of a fourth wave.

Amakhosi had 31 positive tests with 18 players and 13 staff testing positive. They are now urgently appealing for the postponement of their remaining matches to the PSL while also facing a disciplinary committee after their NO SHOW.

Chiefs could pay a fine of up to R1 MILLION and may have to forfeit more games if the PSL denies their request.

For Middendorp and the rest of the DStv Premiership, let’s hope the virus is contained and does not spread to more sides.
