Reports have once again emerged to suggest Happy Mashiane could end up making a loan move away from Kaizer Chiefs.

During the last off-season, when Chiefs first welcomed highly-regarded striker Ashley du Preez to Naturena, reports suggested that out-of-favour Happy Mashiane could be offloaded in the process.

Transfer talk indicated that if Du Preez was heading to Naturena on a cash-plus-player exchange, that Happy Mashiane could then head to Stellenbosch, where he would be hoping to receive more game-time after his career has somewhat stalled at Amakhosi.

However, Chiefs apparently then sealed what was said to be a cash-only deal for Du Preez, while Mashiane remained at Naturena as he still apparently featured in the plans of head coach Arthur Zwane.

According to the latest issue of Soccer Laduma, though, the club is now “open to sending Mashiane out on loan” as he continues to receive limited first team game-time.

“At the moment, it looks like (Austin) Dube and Mashiane could leave in January, but we will see,” a source told the Siya crew.

Matters could change between now and the January transfer window, of course, with Chiefs undergoing plenty of due diligence as they consider what player movements will suit the club most effectively.

The DStv Premiership has been on a mid-season break as the FIFA World Cup has been playing out in Qatar, but local league action will soon get back under way. As it stands, Sundowns, Richards Bay, SuperSport United, Chiefs and Pirates occupy the top five spots on the league log.

Teams have already begun to return to training as preparation begins for an incredibly busy set of fixtures heading into the new year.
