Cross is thought to be under assessment at Chiefs, having previously had a similar stint at SuperSport United under Gavin Hunt

Cross was not signed by SSU

For one reason or another, Hunt and SuperSport seemed to pass up on the opportunity to sign Cross, although there had been no official confirmation that the player was there for anything else, either than to train. With the player resorting at the Chiefs training ground, there still isn’t any official communication either from Amakhosi about the capacity of the player’s presence.

However, earlier in the season, Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane had been rather vocal about his team’s need for a left footed centre back. ‘10111’ had identified that side of defence as a necessity in order to help balance his team. It quickly became evident that the coach had zero faith in towering defender Austin Dube. Dube was the only left-sided centre back at the club at the start of the season but was and still has been constantly overlooked.

Chiefs needed a left sided centre back

In the end Chiefs finally got their man when they signed former Cape Town City left sided defender Edmilson Dove on a free transfer. The Mozambican international has since impressed at at the club and has commanded a regular starting birth on the left side of Zitha Kwinika in the Glamour Boy’s centre back pairing. That has since forced Dube even further to the exit door and according to Soccer-Laduma, it has in turn increased the chances of Cross entering on a permanent basis.

Will he replace Dube?

“They Siya Crew has been informed that Kaizer Chiefs could look into the possibility of signing defender Bradley Cross as one for the future with various reasons coming into play. With Austin Dube understood to be heading out at Naturena in the near future, Amakhosi could look to acquire the services of the left sided defender as cover for Edmilson Dove” wrote the publication.
