Kaizer Chiefs planing to re-sign academy product back from Swallows FC

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be plotting the signing of Swallows FC goalkeeper Sanele Tshabalala according to the latest reports.

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be plotting the signing of Swallows FC goalkeeper Sanele Tshabalala according to the latest reports.

Tshabalala is a product of the Chiefs academy, but left the club and has been at Swallows trying to get some football. 

Chiefs rebuild underway

It is no secret that Chiefs are planning a rebuilding project at Naturena and part of that strategy involves reducing the squad average age. Now having released veteran Nigerian international Daniel Akpeyi, it is thought that the club are in the market for another keeper and a younger contender. That is where Tshabalala’s name has since come up, with the club seemingly believing he is good enough to compete with the keepers they already have at their disposal.

As it stands Chiefs have the likes of Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Petersen and veteran former number one Itumeleng Khune.  Tshabalala who is somewhat of a journeyman with regards to his junior career in Gauteng, having also turned out for the Glamour Boy’s arch rivals Orlando Pirates, before turning out for the now defunct Bidvest Wits.  Now according to Kick Off, the player is set to follow two of his current teammates in Kamohelo Mahlatsi and Dillon Solomons who are believed to be on their way to Naturena at the conclusion of the PSL Promotion/ Relegation playoffs, which Swallows find themselves in a tricky position in, with just one more game to go against University of Pretoria

Club wants to bring Tshabalala back

Speaking to Kick Off, a source claims that the Chiefs management want to Tshabalala return to the club.

“Kaizer Chiefs are looking for a young goalkeeper, and Tshabalala fits the profile. He played for Kaizer Chiefs reserve team before joining Swallows FC and the club has identified him as a potential signing for next season,” said the source.

It is a mystery where Chiefs would’ve seen the player’s progress as he has only featured twice this past season. It is also hard to see where the 24-year-old former youth international, would get his minutes in, in an already stacked department at the club.
