Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will be licking their lips at the prospect of signing Ashley Cupido at a knockdown price.

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates on red alert as Cupido announces his plans

According to SoccerLaduma, Cape Town Spurs are resigned to losing star attacker Ashley Cupido after the youngster handed in a transfer request.

“Yes, I have made it clear to the club that I would like to move at the end of the season. My goal next season is to play in the PSL again. Wherever I play next season, I just want to score as many (goals) as I can and enjoy football.” Cupido confirmed to the publication.

“Yes, I would love to play for one of the Big Three (Pirates, Sundowns or Chiefs). It would be a dream come true and a wonderful experience for me,” confirmed Cupido.

Cupido is a wanted man

23-year-old Ashley Cupido scored seven goals and provided one assist in 26 appearances in his debut season as a top-flight pro. Those numbers are even more impressive considering they were achieved for a struggling side that eventually got relegated. Cupido, nominally a wide attacker but equally comfortable through the middle, has made the step up. Ironically he was on the score sheet against Kaizer Chiefs on the final day of the campaign. Spurs’ 2-0 win was academic, but it did condemn Amakhosi to tenth place on the DStv Premiership log.

Look at many a striker’s goal ratio in the DStv Premiership and the numbers aren’t exactly mind-boggling. Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana would bite your hand off for these stats. Mashamaite bagged 11 goals & five assists in 121 appearances for the Glamour Boys across all competitions. That’s exactly a goal every 11 games. How does that stack up to one of the best defenders in the history of the sport? Real Madrid and Spain icon Sergio Ramos scored a staggering 101 goals in 671 appearances for Los Blancos. He was not only the best defender of his generation but also the best goal-scoring defender the beautiful game has ever seen. To score a goal every 11 appearances in the notoriously low-scoring PSL is some achievement.

Where will Cupido be playing his football next season?
