It won’t take like to rate the players arriving at and departing from Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates as the Soweto giants didn’t sign or sell a single player!

It certainly wasn’t a memorable transfer period for blockbuster trades.

But, crucially, it was Mzansi’s top team Mamelodi Sundowns who concluded arguably the top two deals.

The Brazilians signed Bradley “Surprise” Ralani from Cape Town City FC and Teboho Mokoena from SuperSport United.

Royal AM were the big sellers in the transfer window

Shauwn ‘MaMhize’ Mkhize’s Royal AM promised to cut back on their bloated squad and they duly did so with as many as 15 players released during the month.

Cape Town City FC also sold more than they bought with four players – Ralani, Abbubaker Mobara, Abdul Ajagun and Fagrie Lakay – leaving the Mother City club

As a reminder, Mamelodi Sundowns lead the way in the DStv Premiership on 44 points after 19 matches.

Orlando Pirates follow in second place on 30 points after a similar number of matches.

At the time of publishing, the next DStv Premiership matches is scheduled to take place on Monday, 7 February between Mamelodi Sundowns and Chippa United.

Kick-off is scheduled for 19:30.
