First, the Soweto giants clash in the DStv Premiership on 29 October 2022 before a Carling Cup semi-final showdown on Saterday, 12 November 2022.

Currently, Chiefs are running away with the votes, as expected. They sit on top and on their way to half a million votes. Pirates are around the 300 000 mark with one day left to vote. The votes officially close on 2 October 2022.

According to KickOff, the organizers of the Carling Cup have decided that the top two teams will play one another.

Meaning that there will be a second Soweto derby just two weeks after their league clash.

POSSIBILITY OF THIRD SOWETO DERBY

There is even the possibility of THREE Soweto derbies during this time…

If Pirates manage to overcome MTN8 champions Mamelodi Sundowns and Amakhosi beat AmaZulu in their respective semi-finals. Imagine the possibility of a league clash, a dream MTN8 final and a Carling Cup semi-final between these sides in quick succession.

Arthur Zwane and Jose Riveiro will do everything in their power to make this possible as their attention turns to the MTN8. The PSL is on pause due to the current FIFA international break. A chance for Zwane and Riveiro to get into the final and earn their first piece of major silverware. This is Something both Bucs and Amakhosi supporters are desperate for.
