Njabulo Blom breaks silence over Kaizer Chiefs exit

Njabulo Blom has spoken out for the first time since his blockbuster move from Kaizer Chiefs to America’s MLS side St. Louis City

Bafana Bafana midfielder Njabulo Blom has broken his silence over his exit at Kaizer Chiefs.

After months of speculation, Chiefs confirmed Blom will be joining Major League Soccer team St. Louis City SC in America on Friday evening.

Blom played an integral part for Arthur Zwane’s side so far this season, having made 13 appearances.

In total, the academy graduate made 94 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs since being promoted to the first team in 2019.

And now, he has spoken for the first time since his blockbuster move to the MLS was confirmed.

Njabulo Blom opens up after Kaizer Chiefs exit

“Today is a day of mixed emotions. The closing of one very special door that has been my home for the past 8 years and the opening of another one that takes me onto the next stage of my footballing journey,” The 23-year-old said as quoted by IdiskiTimes.

“I came to Kaizer Chiefs as a 15 year old with dreams and hopes of becoming a professional footballer and representing the Amakhosi at 1st team level one day.

“The late Coach Ryder Mofokeng believed and encouraged me from day one. He gave me guidance and he will forever be in my heart.

“Coach Arthur and Coach Sundra had a big influence in those early days. Thank you for showing belief and trust in my abilities.

“What a ride. It’s been a blessing to wear the gold and black jersey of Kaizer Chiefs! From my debut season in 2019/20 when we ended up coming within minutes of winning the League. Through to my personal highlight in 2021, appearing in the CAF Champions League Final.

“Thank you coach Ernst for giving me my senior team debut at such a young age. Coach Hunt, you treated me like a son thank you for the love, support and for believing in me.

“Coach Baxter, I am grateful that you believed in me even in tough times and I might say you also treated me like a son.

“To Coach Arthur & Coach Sheppie, I wish you all the very best to bring Chiefs successfully back to the top and to give our truly amazing fans the success that they deserve.”

Chiefs lose star midfielder

“Kaizer Chiefs are elated to confirm the transfer of their youth development graduate, Njabulo Blom to US Major League Soccer team, St. Louis City SC.” a club statement read.

“Incredibly, this ground-breaking transfer is the first transaction involving a youth development graduate of the Club to the MLS, notwithstanding the many other exports the Club has produced in the past.”

In other news, former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase looks set to return to former side Black Leopards according to reports.

The midfield maestro rose to prominence at Black Leopards and Baroka before securing a dream move to the Glamour Boys in 2018.

His time at Kaizer Chiefs ultimately failed to live up to the hype.

After a brief stint at Marumo Gallants, Ntshangase again found himself clubless at the end of last season.

The diminutve man was not so long ago one of the most sought after midfielders in the PSL.

However the going has been tough for him but a shock return to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards is now on the cards!

According to local publication FarPost, Ntshangase is currently training with former side Black Leopards with the hope of securing a permanent contract at Lidoda Duvha.

Ntshangase made a total of 57 appearances in the top flight scoring twice while recording five assists in the process.
