ITUMELENG KHUNE RETURNS TO KAIZER CHIEFS GOALS

Following Brandon Petersen’s suspension where Amakhosi lost 2-1 to Swallow, the 35-year-old Khune stepped up to take the gloves.

“Khune did well, he made some brilliant saves in the game but unfortunately, conceded two goals,” Zwane said via iDiskiTimes.

“They were not his fault,” Zwane said in the post-match press conference.

“The defence should have done better – unfortunately, we didn’t defend properly. In fact, before they scored he made a great save.

“So, I think he did very well but collectively, as a team, we could have done better,” Zwane added.

FORMER AMAKHOSI SKIPPER TO COACH HIS NATION

Former Chiefs skipper Patrick Mabedi is going international. He has been named as Malawi’s assistant coach.

Remember Patrick Mabedi in a Chiefs shirt? Of course, you should. He captained Amakhosi for eight seasons with his shirt always tucked into his shorts.

The news was announced by the Malawi Football Association via social media. The report said the former Chiefs number five will double up as the U20s coach on what is a short-term deal until September 2023.

“FAM has appointed Flames Assistant coach and Under 20 Head Coach Patrick Mabedi as Flames Caretaker coach until September 2023,” the FA said.

“Mabedi will see the team through the two remaining 2023 AFCON Qualifiers against Ethiopia in June and Guinea in September as well as the COSAFA Cup in May,” the note added.
