KAIZER CHIEFS’ RELATIONSHIP WITH STELLENBOSCH FC

The local scene has relationships that have existed and thrived for years. Primes examples are Orlando Pirates and Chippa United or Golden Arrows, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Maritzburg United.

With Amakhosi’s relationship with Stellenbosch, three players have been signed in two seasons:

  • Phathutshedzo Nange
  • Ashely du Preez
  • Zitha Kwinika.

Meanwhile, the Cape Winelands club has since produced a growing number of impressive players this season. With Amakhosi still lacking squad depth, we will not be surprised to see more players changing from maroon to gold and black.

FIVE PLAYERS AMAKHOSI ARE LIKELY WATCHING

  1. Sibongiseni Mthethwa, 28, central midfielder – 21 appearances
  2. Ibraheem Jabaar, 20, central midfielder – 14 appearances
  3. Olwethu Makhanya, 18, central defender – 12 appearances
  4. Devon Titus, 22, winger – Four goals and one assist
  5. Iqraam Rayners, 27, forward – Four goals and one assist.

Note: Junior Mendieta, 29, has been hotly linked with a move to Naturena, but his technical weaknesses as a number 10 do not fit Amakhosi’s playing identity.
