Chiefs’ top talent position: Zwane’s tough choice

KAIZER CHIEFS’ RIGHT-BACK OPTIONS
Many coaches will tell us they enjoy the headache of selecting a team where there’s high competition for a place, but do they really?
For Amakhosi’s Arthur Zwane, the right-back choice will be harder than others.

Last season saw the team with the unquestionable talents Reeve Frosler and Njabulo Blom competing for the right-back position.
To make the choice even harder, the club has recently signed the superb talent that is Dillan Solomons on a four-year contract. No other new player signed for four years.

DIFFERENT PLAYING STRENGTHS
So what really separates Frosler, Blom, and Solomons?
Luckily, this is quite clear and easy as no footballer is the same as another.

Frosler, 24: The Gqeberha-born star is multi-gifted but his standout qualities are accurate crossing and the ability to use both right and left feet rather well.
Blom, 22: Many fans reading this will quick to say move Blom to midfield. However, Yusuf Maart and Siyethemba Sithebe have arrived now. Anyways, Blom’s best quality as a right-back is his timing, defending, and positioning.

Solomons, 23: Put simply, Solomon’s burning speed, aggression, take-ons, and grit are the reasons he has been signed on a four-year deal.
Nevertheless, the different attributes of each player should allow Zwane to make his selection based on the opponents.
