Kaizer Chiefs have made eight signings so far but it’s quite clear at least two more strikers are needed at Amakhosi.

Speaking to the media this week, the club’s assistant coach Dillon Sheppard was asked to confirm whether the technical team is working on additional signings or not?

“We’ve reinforced in areas where we found it important and where we needed to go forward and I’m sure that by the end of the transfer window, we might be able to reinforce in one or two other areas,” the former Bidvest Wits reserved side coach said via Kick-Off.

A WORD ON THE NEW SIGNINGS

The former left-winger also took the moment to review some of the new faces at Naturena. New players include Dillan Solomons, George Matlou, Siyethemba Sithebe, Yusuf Maart, Zitha Kwinika, and Ashley Du Preez.

“We were able to bring in some new faces and it was important to reinforce in some positions where we were lacking,” Sheppard added.

“If you look at the wing-back position, we’ve brought in the likes of Dillon Solomons, and if you look in midfield, the likes of George Matlou and Siyethemba Sithebe as eights. That was very, very important for us. Yusuf Maart has also come in and is very versatile, he can play as a six, eight, and ten.

“In the centre-back role we brought in Zitha Kwinika who is an ex-Kaizer Chiefs player. He’s come through the system and youth development, so he knows the system and he knows the club and he’s also a strong leader and communicator which is something that we really needed.

“We’ve reinforced in areas where we found it important and where we needed to go forward and I’m sure that by the end of the transfer window, we might be able to reinforce in one or two other areas.

“The likes of Ashley Du Preez have also come in in the striker role. He’s versatile too, he can play in the nine role or as a 10 so it’s been very important. It’s important that we get these players involved and into the way we want to play and the style of play,” the Amakhosi technical team number two concluded.
