Arrival: Chiefs welcome fifth striker at Naturena

This hunt will be remembered forever. Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly invited a new center forward to convince the technical team.

Somebody get Kaizer Chiefs a striker! Amakhosi have now reportedly invited what is a fifth striker to hold trials at the club.

KAIZER CHIEFS INVITES AND DECISIONS

As The South African website has been reporting since June, Arthur Zwane and his technical team have invited four previous strikers to try and impress the club.

The players have included Musa Kamara from Sierra Leone but he sadly did not make it to Johannesburg. Others have been Burundi’s Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, and the local duo of Wayde Lekay and Fuad Johnson.

Reports have since revealed that all have failed to impress except Bimenyimana who is expected to sign.

FIFTH STRIKER GETS INVITED

Meanwhile, the latest report says the former SuperSport United number nine Darren Smith has been sent an invitation to Naturena.

The 26-year-old from Cape Town is a free agent after leaving Moroccan club FAR Rabat where he managed one goal in 10 games last season.

“Smith, 26, has just returned from a six-month stint in the Moroccan Botola Pro league with AS FAR and has now been invited to train with Amakhosi, iDiski Times has learnt – with the player completing his first session at Naturena on Thursday, the outlet said.

Smith’s previous club before Rabat was a successful spell in Finland with the likes of Ekenas and Honka.

“During stints with Ekenäs IF and FC Honka in Finland, he netted 31 goals and registered nine assists in 61 games but his spell in North Africa didn’t prove to be as fruitful,” the report added.

Smith’s best season was in 2019/20 when he scored 21 goals in 27 games for Ekenas in Finland.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi starting the new season away to Royal AM on Saturday 6 August in Durban.

The game is set to kick off at 17:30 at the Chatsworth Stadium.
