Chiefs emergency: Zwane to promote and start striker?

Kaizer Chiefs could be in a desperate situation against Richards Bay this weekend. The issue is available center forward players.

Kaizer Chiefs are seemingly faced with a big decision to make. The club might not have an available centre-forward against Richards Bay this weekend.

As The South African website previously reported, Amakhosi’s striker Ashley Du Preez is out injured for ‘some time.’ So, Khama Billiat to play as the nine? Well, coach Arthur Zwane’s has said the Zimbabwean is facing a late fitness test.

Additionally, the brand new striker signing – Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana – is yet to acquire his VISA work permit.

So, what now if Billiat fails to pass his late fitness?

Similar crises are not unique in football.

Coaches often find solutions by going to the reserve team to promote and register a youngster as late as the day before the game.

For Amakhosi, this could be an opportunity for the hot center forward Wandile Duba.

The 18-year-old scored five goals in six games during June’s Engen Knockout tournament, while also scoring in the semi-final of the DStv Diski Shield tournament.

Additionally, Duba was recently awarded the club’s Most Improved Player and Attacking Midfielder of the Season, a bit odd though because he is a striker.

The least we could see is his inclusion on the bench against Richards Bay. Another option could be his peer Mduzuzi Tshabalala but he is not a number nine.
