Five reasons Chiefs fans should smile a bit

The Kaizer Chiefs fanbase has been feeling low after Orlando Pirates’ big signings this week. But here are five reasons for Amakhosi smiles.

Kaizer Chiefs have yet to show aggression ahead of the January transfer window, unlike Pirates and Cape Town City, but Amakhosi fans should meanwhile appreciate a few players from the previous transfer window.

TRANSFERS ARE GAMBLES

They say a new squad rebuild takes two to three seasons or transfer windows, and it should not be different for the Glamour Boys. 

Additionally, a global average of two out of 5 player transfers, become a success. In other words, transfer deals are a gamble, no matter which way you look at it.

A player’s success at his previous club does not guarantee he will continue to fly at his next club, especially at a place like Chiefs.

KAIZER CHIEFS’ GOOD SQUAD PROGRESS

Of the 12 new signings Chiefs made in the previous window, at least four players have proven they deserve to wear the famous gold and black top.

The list inlcudes Njabulo Blom. The 22-year-old midfielder is not new but certainly feels like a new signing with his renewed vigour and reported new contract deal.

Here’s the full list of Chiefs players the team will continue to build around:

  1. Edmilson Dove, central defender.
  2. Dillon Solomons, right-back/ winger.
  3. Yusuf Maart, central midfielder.
  4. Njabulo Blom, defensive midfielder.
  5. Caleb Bimenyimana, center forward.

Lastly, a few players among Ashley du Preez, Zitha Kwinika, Lehlohonolo Matlou, Sinethemba Sithebe, and Kamohelo Mahlatsi were starting to sparkle before the interruption of the 2022 World Cup break.

Meanwhile, the 12-time PSL champions are hotly linked with Pule Mmodi, Celimpilo Ngema and to some extent, Sphesihle Maduna.

Amakhosi will be action in action on 30 December against Golden Arrows in KwaMashu.
