Opinion: Wake up Chiefs! A top star is in front of your eyes

Kaizer Chiefs won’t get what they want until they start signing the very best talent. Just ask Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

Why Kaizer Chiefs? Well, we hear plenty of noise about how much Amakhosi need this and that player. It’s all over social media and Mzansi streets every single day.

Additionally, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have enough midfield talent and depth.

QUESTIONABLE PLAYERS LINKED WITH KAIZER CHIEFS

So Arthur Zwane’s team have been linked with some odd and ill-fitting players such as Sibongiseni Mthethwa and the overrated Junior Mendieta at Stellenbosch FC.

In my opinion, neither of these transfers would make sense at all. Both Mthethwa and Mendieta’s playing styles do not correlate with Zwane’s message about playing identity and ball domination.

Even if Njabulo Blom would leave, which is unthinkable no matter the situation and the rumours we’re reading in the media.

Lastly, Mthethwa and Mendieta are as average as Phathutshedzo Nange and Cole Alexander.

AMAKHOSI HAVE TO SIGN THIS GREAT ATTACKING MIDFIELDER

So, taking into account what Zwane said about playing identity and enterprising attacking players, Maritzburg United’s Karim Kimvuidi is right under Chiefs scouts’ noses.

The 20-year-old Congolese is unbelievably industrious, imaginative, creative, forward-playing, and really quick.

Ernst Middendorp, a coach with over 30 years of experience around the world, described Kimvuidi as follows:

“For me, Karim is one of the best skilful players I have ever worked with, but he was not used now [under John Maduka] in a proper way.

“The players are [not] able to understand what he wants to do. He is always one step ahead, the players are not understanding where they have to go.

“Where they have to go, where they have to run. The split passes will come from him and a lot of stuff will change [under new coach Fadlu Davids],” Middendorp added.

So the question is, where are Chiefs scouts looking? Has the club already made a move before a surprise announcement? That is what Amakhosi fans will be hoping for.

Otherwise, we will continue to face cries about Amakhosi needing quality players.
