Kaizer Chiefs are on track to welcome star striker Samir Nurkovic back from injury soon after the international break.

The Serb is yet to feature for the struggling Amakhosi this season after going under the knife during the offseason.

Nurkovic boost for Kaizer Chiefs

His absence has been felt heavily during the early stages of the ongoing season, where only one Kaizer Chiefs player has found the back of the net in five matches.

The Glamour Boys are expecting the 28-year-old – who finished last season with 14 goals – back in full training in the space of two weeks, according to an update provided by the club on Tuesday.

“Samir Nurkovic is reported progressing well and the medical team are anticipating his return to the training fields in two weeks’ time. The striker is recovering from a surgery that has seen him missing the start of this season,” a statement issued out by the club reads.

Chiefs also gave an update on right-back Reeve Frosler, who limped off in the first half during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates.

The 22-year-old twisted his knee, and was withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad that will face Sao Tome in back-to-back fixtures in the coming days.

According to the club, Frosler will spend up to eight weeks on the sidelines.

The other player to spend some time on the physio’s table is 17-year-old striker Keletso Sifama, who missed the last two fixtures due to injury.

In his case, Chiefs had some good news to report.

“The young striker has recovered, and the medical team have given him all clear to resume full training,” the club said.
