Firstly, it’s unrealistic for Kaizer Chiefs to sign 15 new players, or is it? The purpose for any club to have a long list is the reality that you’ll only secure about half the number of targets on your list.

As The South African reported in recent days, Amakhosi have sealed three deals so far, subject to final details and announcements.

The trio is namely Siyethemba Sithebe from AmaZulu, as well as the Stellenbosch FC duo of Zitha Kwinika and Ashley Du Preez.

But three is obviously nowhere near enough for the job to catch the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns as the supreme club on the land.

So why target an excess of 15? Well, getting new deals on the line are dependent on key variables such as the initial approach, a player’s contract or free agency from his existing club, fee request, age, and competition from other possible suitors.
