Football is a game of surprises. One of those could be Kaizer Chiefs’ decision on the next head coach for next season.

Let’s face it, Kaizer Chiefs could very well name a new head coach this month, especially if Arthur Zwane continues to struggle.

SIX REASONS KAIZER CHIEFS COULD SHOCK US WITH THIS COACH

First of all, this is a wild card. Sead Ramovic has not been linked with Amakhosi at all. This is purely speculating on a remote possibility.

However, major surprises happen every season in football, including Kaizer Chiefs. The Motaung family is under huge pressure to bring back the glory days, and that could necessitate a new face to coach the side next term.

The South African has previously listed the expected candidates such as Benni McCarthy, but we have now come up with an unexpected name.

So here are six reasons Kaizer Chiefs could make a move for TS Galaxy’s German coach Sead Ramovic

1. Ernst Middendorp praise for Ramovic

Say what you like about Middendorp, but he is one of the most articulate, experienced, and tactically astute coaches in the league. It was therefore a big moment when, after facing Ramovic’s Galaxy in April, Middendorp said the Mpumalanga team will certainly survive relegation under the young Ramovic. Middendorp simply said Ramovic superbly structured his team throughout the game.

2. Kaizer Chiefs masterclass performance

Another moment that caught the eye was the manner in which Ramovic’s team defeated Amakhosi in the Nedbank Cup. It is no exaggeration to say the win was a masterclass. The Rockets made Stuart Baxter’s side look very ordinary by controlling the game’s tempo and ball possession throughout the game.

According to Transfermarkt, Ramovic’s side had 61% ball possession over Amakhosi’s 39%. It could have been a lot worse than 1-0 if Galaxy did not waste goal chances.

3. Muhsin Ertugral appointment

Kaizer Motaung has hired a young coach with great promise before. His name was Muhsin Ertugral in 1999. What followed was the high success of the operation vat alles season.

The Turkish-German delivered four major trophies in four months; the Vodacom Challenge, the BP Top Eight, the Coca-Cola Cup, and the African Cup Winners’ Cup.

THREE MORE REASONS

4. Victory over Orlando Pirates

The German claimed another Soweto giant skull on Monday after a 1-0 win at the Mbombela Stadium. Ramovic’s post-match comments included a reminder from him that said he is a highly-qualified coach.

5. Arthur Zwane may disappoint

Another reason Kaizer Chiefs may look outside at candidates like Ramovic is if Zwane fails to convince the Motaung’s in the remaining four PSL games.

6. Coaching credentials

The 43-year-old Ramovic is a holder of the UEFA Pro License, which is the highest coaching qualification in European football. This could also inspire Amakhosi to call the former Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper.

So will Zwane manage to impress the Motaung’s before they support him with quality signings? Or perhaps Amakhosi will look at the likes of Benni? Maybe wait to see how Pitso Mosimane ends the season with Al Ahly?

We shall find out in the coming weeks.
