‘New players’ is the biggest topic at Kaizer Chiefs these days. We have thus taken a closer look at the work that was done for this season and what we can expect in the looming transfer window.

KAIZER CHIEFS’ NINE SIGNINGS FOR THIS SEASON

Following the unforgettable and dramatic two-year FIFA ban, Amakhosi ended up signing a string of players way before the new faces could legally join the club on 1 July last year.

The marquee signing was without doubt the former Mamelodi Sundowns superstar Keagan Dolly, and how fabulously has he lived up to the hype.

Sundowns have the best talent in the land and possibly in Africa. The DStv Premiership champions simply go for the best in the PSL, while also showing shrewd scouting in Africa, Europe, and of course South America.

Truth be told, Sundowns are the standard.

But where did Kaizer Chiefs, the most-followed football club in South Africa, find talent in the previous transfer window?

Meanwhile, exactly who is the club’s first-team scout remains a bit of a mystery. The last clue we found was Donaldo ‘Ace’ Khuse doing scouting duties in Cape Town, but it was at a youth tournament. He could be merely a youth scout.

TWO AREAS CHIEFS WILL STRENGTHEN FOR NEXT SEASON

In a related post, we took a brief look at the Glamour Boys will add new faces in two different squad departments for new season.

Chiefs are surely itching for the next transfer window. It’s obvious the club will sign better and younger players to challenge Sundowns and Pirates.

At this moment Stuart Baxter’s team only has four out-and-out central midfielders. Cole Alexander, Kearyn Baccus, and Phathutshedzo Nange. Baxter has even had to set Njabulo Blom and Njabulo Ngcobo in the center. There is also Anthony Akumu but he looks surely on his way out at the end of the season.

There is just no way Kaizer Chiefs will compete next season with these options, especially if the club will return to the CAF Champions. Read the full story here.
