Kaizer Chiefs: Seven players with ending contracts or options to extend

The 12-time PSL champions Kaizer Chiefs have another major transfer window waiting for them as of June 30. Who’s staying or leaving Naturena?

Kaizer Chiefs could part ways with some rather big-name players.

No less than seven senior footballers have their contracts ending in June. It is safe to say that the Glamour Boys will be the busiest club in the country.

KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYERS WITH ENDING CONTRACTS

With nearly into April and the fact that Amakhosi have not offered new deals or exercised options to renew speaks volumes. Many may exit Naturena.

Here is a list of six players whose contracts end in June:

  1. Bernard Parker, 35
  2. Daniel Akpeyi, 35
  3. Daniel Cardoso, 33
  4. Ramahlwe Mphahlele, 32
  5. Leonard Castro, 32.

Here are two players whose contracts have an option to extend for another year:

  1. Lebogang Manyama, 31 – Option to extend for another year.
  2. Samir Nurkovic, 29 – Option to extend for another year.

REDUCING THE AVERAGE AGE IN THE SQUAD

Kaizer Chiefs’ Director of Football, Kaizer Motaung Jnr, almost gave it all away last week. The former striker told the club’s supporters that Amakhosi are on course to reduce the average age in the squad.

There is also something to read in the fact that the club moved fast to renew contracts for the likes of Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Happy Mashiane, Njabulo Blom, and Sabelo Radebe in January.

Is it the end of the road for the likes of Mphahlele, Akpeyi, Castro, Manyama, and Nurkovic? The next few months will reveal all.
