Reasons Tau would choose Sundowns over Chiefs

Mzansi superstar Percy Tau has reportedly become a free agent. Would he join Kaizer Chiefs over Mamelodi Sundowns? We doubt it.

Whether Kaizer Chiefs truly need him or not, an available top player will always be linked with the top clubs in his nation. It is just how the football business works.

As The South African website reported on Tuesday afternoon, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star is reported to have parted ways with Africa’s greatest club Al Ahly.

The 28-year-old from Witbank is expected to witness his agent’s phone line buzzing nonstop as of Tuesday. One of those calls could be from the Amakhosi management.

Why so? As the biggest club in the country with ambitions to dethrone Sundowns as the royal club in Mzansi, there are few ways to go about this other than signing the best talent available.

Tau has the proven quality to deliver higher goals and assists than many of coach Arthur Zwane‘s options upfront – not to mention the marketing value of signing one of the biggest ever superstars in the local game.

However, should Tau decide to return to the PSL, Sundowns are his most likely first choice.

So will we see Tau returning home to the PSL or push for a return to places like Belgium? The next few weeks shall reveal all.
