As The South African website reported on Saturday evening, the flood gates opened as early as the sixth minute as Siyabonga Ngezana gifted Gaston Sirino a lollipop of a chance to make it 1-0.

Coach Arthur Zwane later described the moment as ‘manna from heaven.’

More damage came from Peter Shalulile (two goals) and Abubeker Nassir on 76 minutes to make it 4-0.

FIVE THINGS WE LEARNED

There is so much to dissect from the Loftus disaster if you’re a fan of the Glamour Boys, and so much to be proud of if your team is Kabo Yellow.

  1. Siyabonga Ngezana is unfortunately error-prone and will need significant support to regain his confidence
  2. If Yusuf Maart doesn’t have a good game, Chiefs don’t have a good game
  3. Sundowns do not have to play well to win 4-0
  4. Sundowns’ new Ethiopian striker Abubeker Nassir is likely to become a PSL star
  5. With Ashley Du Preez, Amakhosi need to sign a striker, quick and all.

Meanwhile, the football has to continue on the pitch. Zwane’s side will train for a full week before traveling to Durban to face Richards Bay on Saturday, while Sundowns will journey to Sekhukhune United on the same day.
