Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has given the main reason why Itumeleng Khune has lost the gloves.

At point we thought Khune’s career was concluded before an exciting comeback in September 2022 against Stellebosch FC in the MTN8.

However, the 35-year-old disappeared again in early February as Brandon Petersen took over the gloves. According to this suggestion from coach Zwane, Khune is one of the players ‘lacking behind.’

“He is still one of the goalkeepers. You know, if anything happens to Brandon [Petersen] and Bruce [Bvuma], he is there to step in,” said Zwane, as quoted by FARPost.

“So, we create competition, as I have been saying. Unfortunately, there are some of the players that are lacking a little bit behind.

“And you don’t want to put them in the field with the idea for them to fail. We want them to strive and improve on their game,” the Chiefs tactician added.

AMAKHOSI SIGN GIVEN MSIMANGO FROM TS GALAXY

In other news, Amakhosi have pipped the Pirates to the signature of Given Msimango of TS Galaxy.

According to the report by SABC Sport’s Mazola Molefe, the 25-year-old from Gauteng’s Brakpan has signed a four-year contract but will move at the end of the season in June.
