This may upset some Kaizer Chiefs fans. According to Teko Modise, Dolly, and Billiat’s combination can possibly have a negative effect on Stuart Baxter’s side

MODISE ON HOW DOLLY AND BILLIAT’S COMBINATION CAN BE TOXIC FOR KAIZER CHIEFS

So how did Modise arrive at this rather brave point? The Soweto-born living legend was chatting on Soccer Laduma Radio, where he was asked to share his thoughts on Chiefs’ bright spell of form before the Christmas break.

Modise was asked whether Kaizer Chiefs could have enough to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns in the chase for the DStv Premiership title…

“I think Dolly and Billiat when they’re on song, can cause problems for any club. The problem is you rely so much on Keagan [Dolly] to be the creative player.

“You are also looking at when Keagan is on song, the next pass goes to Khama Billiat. That combination, that friendship, that brotherhood and understanding might be a curse at the same time…”

TEKO OFFERS BRILLIANT INSIGHT TO BACK HIS CONCERNS

Modise’s co-host on the show, Sean Roberts, pressed ‘The Navigator’ to explain what he really means.

“You become too predictable,” Modise continued.

Teko continued to reveal he once had first-hand experience where two players enjoyed a perfect understanding until it became harmful to the dressing room.

“Others around you will start to feel fear because you only pass to each other. You need to be careful on how that works because I have been in that situation when you do have somebody that understands you better than anybody in the team.

“You’re doing so well and everybody is benefiting from the understanding,” Modise added about the Kaizer Chiefs’ Dolly and Billiat combo.

“Once it becomes too much, people will start saying you only pass to each other. That brings disruption in the dressing room.

The former Bafana Bafana creative midfielder concluded to highlight that the combination is, above all, a delight and a blessing to have. It inspires the rest of the team to deliver better football.

“But the two [Dolly and Billiat] are very important. When they play well it rubs off on other guys as well.

“You want your star players to play well and it rubs off on other guys. The confidence will rub off onto the rest of the guys.”

Modise’s co-host Roberts duly responded to say the former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder made a brilliant point.

Meanwhile, the DStv Premiership will resume after AFCON 2021, with Amakhosi traveling to the Western Cape to battle Eric Tinkler’s feisty Cape Town City on Saturday 15 February.
