Meanwhile, scarce game-time has led to questions about his future at or outside of Kaizer Chiefs.

According to Soccer Laduma, the 34-year-old Khune, who was handed a two-year with an option to extend last season, could work at the club post-retirement.

“The Siya crew has been told by those in Khune’s camp that the veteran remains an important part of the club going forward,” the report said in the outlet’s latest issue.

“With a role in management a possibility when he does hang up his gloves!”

“Chiefs have a history of employing their icons, like Ace Khuse, Doctor Khumalo, Arthur Zwane, and Brian Baloyi, who was once a goalkeeper coach at the club,” the publication concluded.
