Kaizer Chiefs star attacker Khama Billiat has revealed the crucial advice he received from head coach Gavin Hunt which saw him set Leonardo Castro up in the Amakhosi’s vital away victory in Angola.

Khama Billiat helped Kaizer Chiefs advance to the group stage of the CAF Champions League after he put the ball on a golden platter for Castro in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Angolan giants Primeiro de Agosto.

Billiat has since revealed that the move was all planned by Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt during recent training sessions while further confirming his ambitions on the continent for the upcoming historic campaign.

“Normally the coach is on my case telling me, ‘your strength is to run behind the defenders and make sure you finish the attack’,” Billiat told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

“As soon as Njabulo Blom and Philani Zulu got the ball, I just turned and gave them my back and started running. Exactly as I expected, Njabulo put the ball behind the defence.

“It made it easy for me and I was left with one versus one and I told myself I just need to eliminate the one in front of me and I know my player is going to be in the box, and Castro was in the right position at the right time.”

Billiat eyeing CAF Champions League glory

“It is a great feeling, credit goes to the technical team and the entire squad for their preparation. The whole effort that the Kaizer Chiefs chairman (Kaizer Motaung) has put in everyone is really important for us to test ourselves with the rest of the Champions League giants.” Billiat said as quoted by The Herald.

“It gives us confidence going back to our domestic competition. We really want to go all the way, to make a difference, and push ourselves to the limit and to see how far we can compete in Africa.”

Kaizer Chiefs next turn their attention to a crucial DStv Premiership on Saturday afternoon when they host Maritzburg United at the FNB Stadium.
