Are the real Kaizer Chiefs back? It’s still too early to tell but the signs are there and that is how change and progress begin in football.

KAIZER CHIEFS’ SIX GAMES SO FAR UNDER ARTHUR ZWANE

Following the famous overhaul of the squad that included 13 departures and nine new singings so far, and the appointment of Arthur Zwane as the head coach, the new era has started with a mix of results.

With five PSL games and one match in the cup, Zwane’s side has won three games while losing three in the league against Royal AM, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Cape Town City.

Looking at the three wins, Stellenbosch in the cup was a grind, while the victories over Maritzburg United and Richards Bay delivered exciting football.

FIVE THINGS WE’VE LEARNED ABOUT ZWANE’S AMAKHOSI

  1. Goalkeeper rotation? Indecision? All three PSL keepers have been given the gloves so far
  2. Zitha Kwinika is the ever-present and most trusted central defender
  3. Central midfield is still unstable. Yusuf Maart will be back from suspension. One central midfielder role is still up for grabs 
  4. Kgaogelo Sekgota has had a breakthrough and is starting to become somewhat of a fan-favourite
  5. The squad overall and new signings have led to massive crowds in stadiums.

Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys will focus back on training before facing Brandon Truter’s in-form AmaZulu on Saturday 3 September at FNB.
