Kaizer Chiefs: NEW player spotted at Naturena ahead of Soweto derby!

Kaizer Chiefs have a NEW player who has been spotted training with them at Naturena. So, who is this player that Arthur Zwane invited to train with Amakhosi?

Siyabonga Gumede was spotted training with Amakhosi as he has been invited to fill the void left by Eric Mathoho, according to Goal.

The 2021-22 Chiefs reserve team Defender of the Season, was spotted training with the club’s first team on Wednesday, just days out from the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates.

NEW PLAYER SPOTTED TRAINING WITH CHIEFS

Gumede is the latest academy product to earn a call-up to train with the senior side.

Furthermore, he has been called up to replace an Amakhosi legend, Mathoho. Since Mathoho has been ruled out indefinitely, Amakhosi need a defender to fill his spot in training.

So, who is Gumede?

He is a promising and talented 18-year-old centre back. Moreover, Gumede is a Chiefs reserve team player who joins the likes of Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba, Samkelo Zwane, Aden McCarthy and Bontle Molefe as starlets who have earned an opportunity to train in the first team.

However, like McCarthy and Molefe, he is unlikely to be thrown into the deep end against the Bucs.

Meaning, his invite from Zwane and Amakhosi management is likely focused on getting him experience and giving him exposure.

To be called up and noticed by Zwane at 18, he must be a special talent.

Therefore, even if he does not earn gametime in the Soweto derby, he has a bright future ahead of him with the Glamour boys.
