Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt says that the team must strive to finish in the top eight of the DStv Premiership as a bare minimum.

Hunt’s Kaizer Chiefs side went into the international break in ninth spot on the Premiership table, three points behind both TS Galaxy and Cape Town City but with a game in hand on both sides.

At the outset of the season there were hopes that Hunt could rouse another title challenge out of the group of players that came so close last season.

“It’s got to be [the minimum target], that’s got to be a given. We’ve got to get there. It’s going to be a big ask but once we get this [busy] program out the way and everything around, we can obviously try and focus,” Hunt told reporters.

“But we’ve got some big games coming up against people around and beneath us [on the log], and we’ve got a bit of a run going now – a couple of games unbeaten, which is the most important thing. But we need to turn the draws into victories.”

Kaizer Chiefs snapped a winless run in the PSL with their 1-0 Soweto Derby win which Hunt hopes will be a catalyst for a big turnaround.
