Why Kaizer Chiefs moved games to Polokwane revealed

Kaizer Chiefs are desperate to win trophies again and moving selected home matches may reignite their fire according to Jessica Motaung

Kaizer Chiefs will play three HOME matches this season at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The club confirmed on Thursday that a deal has been struck with the Polokwane Municipality.

Why you may ask? Well Amakhosi Marketing Director Jessica Motaung has explained the reason behind the sudden switch.

Kaizer Chiefs hoping history repeats itself

“We are delighted to be back in the province of Limpopo and the city of Polokwane in particular, where we enjoy great support.” – Jessica told the club’s website.

“We are looking forward to three exciting games with a full stadium. We know that the people of Limpopo will come out in numbers because they love Amakhosi.

“Their support proved key in the past when we lifted the league trophy with the New Peter Mokaba as our home venue.

“We hope that history will be repeated when we play at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium again. We believe in long-term agreements.

“And being in Polokwane for three years means Kaizer Chiefs will be working with the municipality to achieve our goals or promoting sport, particularly football in the city.”

The Amakhosi have moved the following matches to Polokwane.

  • Royal AM (January 29)
  • Golden Arrows (February 18)
  • Swallows (May 2)

Amakhosi secure big money deal with Polokwane

Kaizer Chiefs will be smiling all the way to the bank after securing a big-money deal with Polokwane Municipality.

According to SundayWorld, Chiefs will earn between R1 million to R3 million for each game they host at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

“This paper has it on good authority that Kaizer Chiefs would make anything between R1-million and R3-million a match at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium, plus accommodation and transport costs.” the publication reported.
