Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Braga’s Kobamelo Kodisang.

The striker’s agent says that a deal to bring the talented youngster back to South Africa could still be struck.

Kodisang to Kaizer Chiefs deal not dead

Kodisang is finding it hard to get game time with the Portuguese side and is said to have received offers from other clubs in Europe.

However, despite it having the appearance of a backward step Mike Makaab says that his client could still move to Naturena.

It is said that the sticking point right now is the talks between the clubs.

There has been some suggestion that Kaizer Chiefs wanted to take Kodisang on loan, to bolster his chances of featuring in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for Bafana Bafana.

It is international ambition that might see Kodisang return to South Africa as Hugo Broos is unwilling to select players not playing regular first team football.

Makaab remained optimistic that some sort of deal could be done to improve Kodisang’s situation.

“The two clubs value the player differently, that is the case here. We cannot reach an agreement. The deal is deadlocked,” Makaab told Gagasi FM.

“However, the deal is not dead and buried. However, it will take something special to unlock it. We are facing challenges,” he added.

The 22-year-old has represented South Africa at Under-17, Under-20 and Under-23 level but is yet to earn a full cap.

Kodisang missed out on the COSAFA CUP squad despite the group being loaded with young talents considered the future of South African football.

Assistant coach Helman Mkhalele will take charge of the team for the assignment in the coming week.

The striking options he has at his disposal come from Chumani Butsaka, Keletso Sifama, Dan Ndhlovu, Boitumelo Radiopane.

Kaizer Chiefs remain desperate to add to their options up front.
