Kaizer Chiefs: Motaung Jnr reveals Baxter is responsible for team selection

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr has responded to the criticism directed at head coach Stuart Baxter in what has been an inconsistent season for the club.

A lot was expected from Chiefs this season after making some promising signings at the start of the campaign, including the acquisitions of the likes of Njabulo Ngcobo, Keagan Dolly, and Kgaogelo Sekgota among others.

However, Baxter doesn’t appear to believe in any of the new signings except for Dolly who leads the Chiefs attack alongside Khama Billiat.

Motaung Jnr said Baxter is the one responsible for the team selection and the way Chiefs are currently playing, adding that those around him only give inputs and nothing more.

Motaung Jnr said none of Baxter’s technical team or management interferes with what his work at the club.

“The first thing I want to say, which is very important, is that people get appointed with roles and responsibilities,” Motaung Jnr told reporters.

Baxter, is the person who is responsible for team selection and how he chooses to play,” Motaung Junior said.

“The most important thing is that the head coach, Stuart, is the person who is responsible for team selection and how he chooses to play.”

“Everyone else gives their inputs, and that’s how football structures work,” added Motaung Jnr.
