Kaizer Chiefs look set to miss out on signing a Cape Town City midfielder they were close to getting during the January transfer window.

In January, Chiefs came very close to signing Mduduzi Mdantsane from Cape Town City as reported on The South African website but they pulled out on the eleventh over.

And expectations were that Chiefs would wait for the off-season to sign Mdantsane for free as his current contract is coming to an end in June.

However, there appears to be a new transfer twist, according to ThisIsFootballAfrica, whose source claims that City are about to offer the left-footer a new deal.

The publication reports that City chairman John Comitis is prepared to keep Mdantsane at City for the next three seasons, starting from July 2023.

CAPE TOWN CITY TO FEND OFF KAIZER CHIEFS INTEREST IN MDANTSANE

“The latest is that Chairman John Comitis has said that they have spoken with the player a few days back and indicated that they would want to give him a three-year deal unless someone comes in and buys him at the right price,” reports the publication.

MDANTSANE IN CAPE TOWN CITY’S HISTORY BOOKS

Mdantsane, whose football talent was nurtured at Naturena as a young boy, recently entered City’s books after making his 100th appearance for the club.

Interestingly, he scored on the day, and while he hasn’t featured that much this season compared to the previous seasons, Mdantsane appears to be still important to Cape Town City.

Overall, Mdantsane has made 27 appearances for City this season, but he rarely started or finished matches. He has a single goal to his name this term.
