Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane’s future at the club is uncertain after just one season according to reports.

The 29-year-old was signed from Cape Town City the beginning of the season but has found it tough to break into the Amakhosi first eleven. Mdantsane was one of the players that were suspended for disciplinary reasons four months ago. Since his suspension, he has hardly featured for the Soweto Giants.

According to Soccer Laduma, Kaizer Chiefs might be looking to release the midfielder after just one season.

“As of now things are not looking good for him (Mdantsane). All signs are that he could be loaned out next season. The thing is he still has a contract until June 2026 so they (Chiefs) can’t just release him like that because it will cost the team, a source told the publication.

“But they will also wait for the new coach to look at all the players before making the final decision. So, it may take the whole preseason training and camp before he knows his future. But for now, it hangs in the balance.”

Mdantsane’s disciplinary hearing over an alcohol related incident may have contributed to him not getting game time, according to Soccer Laduma.

The 29-year-old is not the only midfielder that Kaizer Chiefs bought this season. The club also signed Edson Castillo and Sibongiseni Mthethwa. All of the three midfielders have had an average campaign as the Soweto giants finished 10th in the league.

Mdantsane’s saving grace might be the new Amakhosi coach coming in

Mdantsane featured in 13 matches this season but has failed to find the back of the net. Before joining Kaizer Chiefs, the midfielder scored two goals and provided one assist in his last season with City.
